Wow can’t believe this exists as a GIF! Love it. I’m gonna try to make one out of the moment the guitar turns into a ukelele… Or was it the other way around? Can’t recall; haven’t seen this video in so long — good memories.

Imagine…

brandy-man:

me in the street: imagine if my favorite band walked by
me in my room: imagine if my favorite band walked in
me in the car:imagine if my favorite band was in the car next to me
me in class: imagine if my favorite band walked in
me on vacation: imagine if my favorite band were here

Ugh, oh man, I am always thinking this.

Imagine if I collaborated on a music video with my favorite band in which I sang, played keyboard, and contributed lyrics? Oh wait. I did.

I promise that’s the last time you’ll see this music video on this blog.

But anyway… with that dream accomplished it’s time to go back to fantasizing about meeting Brian Wilson and the other surviving B-Boys…

Help the Spinto Band save their credibility and career as they attempt to high-tail it to a last-minute gig! I still haven’t made it past the first chapter, Nick’s Snake-themed gear gathering…

So, you fell in love with Leave Yourself Alone off the new Spinto LP, right? Couldn’t get enough of this fresh new lead voice for the Spinto gang?

Well now here is a house music remix.

You’re welcome.

Wonderful to see this, especially as (though many current fans of this series aren’t aware) The Spinto Band was the subject of the very first Blagotheque Take-Away Show some six years ago!

Here’s a song for you this evening. It’s only one minute and thirty seconds long, so what have you got to lose? CCS

The Spinto Band has always been a sort of a special band for me too. “Oh Mandy” struck me in particular as well. Sure, it was sort of their “one hit,” and sure, it’s not entirely in line with the rest of their music, but hearing that one song really got me into all their material, and, believe it or not, recorded pop music in general. I was in high school when I first heard it and still a mostly classical pianist who only really listened to jazz and showtunes and never even conceived of writing his own material. Hearing “Oh Mandy” changed all that. I could go on.. but I already have a sort of secret blog where I gush about The Spinto Band on a regular basis so I’ll leave it out of here.

Okay, so no more gushing, but I will post this clip from my SoundCloud in which I talk a little bit about how the band and the song affected me:

Alright then…. TAKE IT [away], Spinto Band!!!!

pomegranatesart:

I remember hearing The Spinto Band’s “Oh Mandy” right around the time Pomegranates started. In some ways it was kind of like one of those songs I’ve always associated with that time in my life. I’m glad this band is still making music, this video is funny. Please people, learn and don’t be a sore winner at board games like these unruly, dorky children.
