A surprise late-night appearance by none other than Jason Trachtenburg! Come see us play together, among many friends and talented others, this Friday May 3rd right here at Sidewalk ! Ave A & 6. It’d be good to see you! (And, it’s FREE!!!!)
I am thrilled to announce that joining this bill are two of my musical heroes, Thomas Hughes (of The Spinto Band, who has also played with The Music Tapes and Jeff Mangum) and the talented singer-songwriter Gretchen Lohse.

The Spinto Band’s Nick Krill interviews legendary hip hop artist Jay-Z.
Who knew Jay-Z liked Swedish Fish so much?
A really enlightening video for any fan.

Trampoline + Ukulele + Firework + Animal mask
—->Direct to Helmet
Wow can’t believe this exists as a GIF! Love it. I’m gonna try to make one out of the moment the guitar turns into a ukelele… Or was it the other way around? Can’t recall; haven’t seen this video in so long — good memories.

Beat the hell out of the new Ben Folds Five by several points…
“The title might imply a sense of transformation, but Cool Cocoon reveals a band convincingly growing into what it had longed to be all along.”
(if you haven’t heard it from me by now, pitchfork is stupid, rating music with numbers is stupid, rating music with numbers with decimal points is so inane i can’t even handle it.)

Spinto Band Café Bustelo Commercial — “The Perfect Choice” (by SpintoBand)
He may say he didn’t want be a musician all his life, or that he was pursuing a career in education, or that he wanted to settle down, but I think we all know the real reason behind Jon leaving the Spinto Band.
Dude was replaced by Bustelo.

Frontman Nick Krill raps bout bein inspired ta form tha crew afta stumblin upon unused cold lil’ woo wop lyrics penned by his stupid-ass grandfather, Roy Spinto, on tha back of Cracker Jack boxes. Describin’ tha early muthafuckin yearz of tha band: “Every other crew our crazy-ass asses knew back then would play up in they garage n’ do tha live thang. They’d do a funky-ass bunch of concerts, then go, ‘Oh man, we’ve gotta record now?’ But our crazy-ass asses just had dis crap up in tha basement n’ all we’d do was record, so our crazy-ass asses had 20 90-minute tapes full of junk before our crazy-ass asses played our first show.”
